This conference highlighted the issues and opportunities facing the oil and gas industry today and tomorrow. It featured case studies and innovations from the industry itself, as well as key presentations from governments, NGO's and the research community.
Keynote addresses and special guests included:
- Commissioner of the Productivity Commission, Mr Phillip Weickhardt
- Former Head of the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE) and
- Current Executive Director of Concept Economics, Dr Brian Fisher, AO PSM;
- Executive Director of Seafood Industry Victoria, Mr Ross McGowan; and
- Chief Executive of APPEA, Ms Belinda Robinson.
These speakers are highly respected experts in their fields and understand the industry and how it operates.
In addition, during the workshop there were sessions focused on greenhouse, exploration and access issues, new science, new technologies, regulatory approvals, and a dedicated session releasing new science and understanding on sound in the marine environment.
The workshop presented a great opportunity to share information and find out about what is happening in the industry, with many studies demonstrating the industry's ongoing commitment to environmental excellence. It also provided an opportunity to network with others in the industry, government representatives and non-government organisations.
Who attended? The workshop was open to APPEA Members, governments, researches and interested parties, and catered for Industry professionals with an interest in environmental considerations; Environmental researchers and professionals; Government policy makers and regulators; Non-government organisations and environment representatives keen to engage constructively with the industry; and Anyone with an interest in the sustainable development and prosperity of Australia. |
